Glassdoor Update from Chief Technology Officer, Ryan Aylward
Yesterday many members attempting to reach Glassdoor were not able to get to our site. For the majority of our users, this issue has been resolved, and Glassdoor is up and running. We apologize for the interruption of service. Our goal is always to make sure all our members and employer partners have the best experience possible using Glassdoor.
At this point there is still a percentage of folks that may not be able to reach Glassdoor. Our team is working hard to make sure that 100% of site visitors can access the site and we are seeing the percentage climbing every hour. We are currently estimating that all traffic should resume as normal within the next 24 hours.
How did this happen?
Yesterday around 2:30 p.m. PT, Glassdoor was the target of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack causing the site to go down. Our engineering team was able to identify the problem and resolve the issue in a way that prevents us from being susceptible to these sorts of attacks in the future.
How does this affect you?
If you are not able to access Glassdoor at this time, you should be able to within the next 24 hours. If you are an employer and need some analytics from your employer center immediately, contact your customer service rep and they should be able to provide data for you.
Thanks for your patience and support
I truly empathize with any frustration this has caused all of our members and appreciate your continued patience and support. If you have further questions, our team is here to help. Feel free to email us and we will address your specific questions and concerns.
